Pregnancy Test Reviews – Our top picks

Now for slightly more detail as to why we choose these ones!

Our Top Pick: Dragoskandia Pregnancy Test Strips Early Detection PT300 Rapid Detection Kits

This top selling pregnancy test can provide results up to 6 days before your period within about 3 minutes. The lines are clear and obvious, and the stick is easy to use either in a cup or mid-stream whichever you prefer. I compared these with the industry standard Clearblue’s and had 100% correlation, but for just over half the price these represent superb value for money on a full stick style pregnancy test. We can’t recommend these highly enough.

Best Budget Pregnancy Test: Highly Sensitive Pregnancy Test Strips PT800

50 tests for £13.00, what is not to like?! We used so many bulk buy tests in our 4 years of TTC it’s unreal. These aren’t as user friendly as the full sticks. But if you put urine in a container, they’re easy to use and they give accurate results. I used these tests for over a year and did over 60 tests and only experienced one false positive, so they’re pretty solid and for the price point if you have been trying a while and know you will test multiple times per cycle then these are the perfect option for you.

Fastest Results pregnancy test: Clearblue Rapid Detection Pregnancy Test

Clear Blue pregnancy tests are expensive, but I have to say that this one is FAST! I often must wait anything form 3-15 minutes to get accurate results from the tests. But this one gives me rapid clear results in a minute. So, for those of you who hate pacing up and down the landing, going through the whole ‘a watched pot never boils’ routine, this will be the perfect pregnancy test for you!

Best Digital Pregnancy Test: Clearblue Digital Pregnancy Tests with Conception Indicator

These are the perfect tests for 2 types of people:

  • Those just starting the journey to getting pregnant – This is because sometimes the lines in non-digital tests can be hard to read. In fact, you can see lines that aren’t there, you can see no line when it’s positive and as such it’s easy to misread the pregnancy test and give interpret it as a false positive or a false negative. These digital tests take that away.
  • Those that want confirmation of a strip/stick test. Every time I got a positive result I used one of these sensitive digital stick tests to confirm the result, there is something nice with a display telling you you are 2 weeks pregnant and it prevented my fear of having a false positive when I got conformation from one of these.

Best Reassurance Pregnancy Test: iProven One Step Pregnancy Test x 5

The accuracy and quality of these make them a great single use stick pregnancy test. They give accurate easy to read results. You can use them from a container or mid flow which makes them versatile and able to use outside the home as well. They are also well priced at just under a tenner for 5 tests, this means that if you are a person that needs confirmation of a result or you just like to do more than 1 test to be sure then this pack of 5 tests is a great option for you.

Best combo Ovulation And Pregnancy Testing Kit: Easy@Home: Fertility Test Kit

As you get further into trying to conceive many women like to start tracking their ovulation with OPK (ovulation predictor kits). If you are using multiple of these and multiple pregnancy tests each cycle then it often make financial and practical sense to buy them together. These from Easy at Home are brilliant. You get 50 OPk’s and 20 pregnancy tests. The strips are just like other strips, their easy to use. One benefit is the nice words that you get in the instructions it’s just a nice little extra. You can also choose to use their app to record the information which is an added bonus. These are well worth it for those who have been trying a while or know they have sub fertility.

Best Early detection Pregnancy Test: First Response Pregnancy Early Test

The problem with super early pregnancy testing is that you need a low threshold for detection these tests will detect 10mIU which is as low as home testing goes. The problem with this range is that it gives false positives more often than the standard 25mIU pregnancy tests. However, many people we spoke to ourselves included who have used this test have not had a large number of false positives which is why we have ranked it as the best high sensitivity early detection pregnancy test. This is the test for people who need to have an idea if they’re pregnant really early and can’t wait a few more days.

We hope that these help you make the choice about what pregnancy test is right for you whilst you are trying to conceive.
